Dangerous and Toxic Beauty Gadgets and Procedures I Refuse to Use 🙅‍♀️

A beauty queen’s secrets to looking youthful without toxic products, Part 8!

I investigated beauty and “anti-aging” devices for over a year, and found many great natural alternatives to dangerous plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures, that I have shared in earlier parts of this series. However, I also found some risky and shocking ones, outlined in this post.

This post is NOT sponsored in any way, and I don’t sell any products such as MLM.

This post may contain Amazon Associates links, that I may earn small amounts from if you click them. See the bottom of this page for more details. This doesn’t create bias because I’m not creating my recommendations based on a payment from specific products.

Video for Part 8:

This short video is available on YouTube, embedded below. It’s also available on Facebook and other social media. YouTube can be convenient because because with the YouTube app you can listen/ watch it while you do other things on your phone. It’s possible to do this on Facebook as long as you stay on the app.

The video shows all of the following:

Devices That Can Harm You:

NuDerma: The positive reviews of this device make it sound like a miracle for so many purposes. But read the negative reviews, they are scary enough to convince you not to get one. It’s pretty much just a matter of time until you get an electric shock from it, and/or break one of the glass attachments. https://amzn.to/3TcD6pT

Radiofrequency devices: I do think with the correct usage, these can be beneficial. But if you are trying to use these yourself you can definitely overheat or burn your skin. https://amzn.to/3Izcuuc

Microcurrent devices such as Nuface uses a low grade electrical current that may cause skin sensitivity, redness, rashes, peeling, or darkening. Definitely avoid using near your thyroid gland or chest. Also, I have seen some reviews that showed that the main benefit of using these decvices is the serums they are used with. https://amzn.to/3PmYBmO

Laser hair removal devices such as Kenzi can cause burns. This and the three other types of devices listed above all also have EMF concerns. https://amzn.to/4acjIQM

Derma roller microneedling: The roller style can lead to the needles dragging in your skin. https://amzn.to/3Pk6CbW

Lip plumping devices can cause deep red/ purple blood blisters surrounding your lips. I also won’t use lip plumping serum products because I haven’t found one without toxic ingredients. The other issue is that significantly stretching out your lips will leave saggy tissue when the pumping effect wears off. Check out what I use instead in Part 2: Mitigating Wrinkles, Plus Alternatives to Botox, Fillers, Facelifts, Medspas. Another simple thing you can do is brush your lips with a toothbrush to help encourage blood flow. This was the weirdest looking device I saw: https://amzn.to/48Z2Prr

Procedures That Can Harm You:

-I know fillers are becoming almost as common as getting your nails done (which is also toxic; see my guide.) but they have extremely serious risks, including blindness! A lot can go wrong with the procedures as well, as far as how the result looks. I know fillers are purported to be hyaluronic acid, which your body makes naturally, but fillers are made with a synthetic form and contain hydroxyapatite nano particles.

Botox is made up of botulism toxin and saline, which is where it gets the name Bo-tox. It’s injected into the muscles creating such a toxic effect that it causes the muscles in your face to be paralyzed. This makes it difficult for you to use those muscles which prevent lines and wrinkles in your skin. Botox does not actually cure migraines. Although the majority of patients like how the result looks, things can go wrong similar to with fillers.

Botulinum toxin is considered one of the MOST toxic substances known to man (really!). It’s an incredibly potent neurotoxin that comes from Clostridium botulinum and scientists estimate that even just 1 gram of botulism can kill up to 1 million people. One of the most concerning risks is the 𝙨𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙪𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙩𝙤𝙭𝙞𝙣 due to improper administration. It is also carcinogenic.

I would NEVER EVER get any type of Botox procedure! There are alternatives I describe in Part 2: Mitigating Wrinkles, Plus Alternatives to Botox, Fillers, Facelifts, Medspas, but frankly, if those stop working for me, I’d rather have wrinkles than get Botox.

The risks include:

•excessive weakness

•dysphagia

•aspiration pneumonia

•anaphylaxis

•serum sickness

•urticaria

•soft tissue edema

•dyspnea

•arrhythmia

•myocardial infarction

•peripheral motor neuropathic diseases

•amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)

•neuromuscular junction disorders (myasthenia gravis)

•spatial disorientation

•double vision

•Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease

•and even death

Here are the risks as outlined in the product pamphlet. When Botox is used for years, it can bioaccumulate and cause more serious issues down the road (there was a study done about prolonged use)! Check out this famous plastic surgeon discussing risks including cancer. And here is another video about the risks.

Natural Alternatives to Dangerous Procedures

This section was not shown in the video.

There are natural alternatives to any surgery or Botox, that may be able to produce similar effects with less risk. Let me know if you’d like to to look into more of these and do a another post!

I discussed some gadgets such as chin/ face slimming straps that work for some people, in Part 2: Mitigating Wrinkles, Plus Alternatives to Botox, Fillers, Facelifts, Medspas.

There clips and gadgets that claim to reshape the nose, but I hear those don’t work. https://amzn.to/43hMxJd

You can also reshape your body though diet and exercise. Check out my fitness and diet tips!

Also don’t underestimate the power of contour makeup. I didn’t know about this until a year ago and wish I knew about it my whole life!

In all my length investigating for all 8 parts of this series, here is the thing that shocked and amused me most when I first saw it over a year ago. But now, I’ve realized this is actually a popular product that people really use! I suppose I can see situations where they could be used without fear of being seen, such as photoshoots. It’s called Face Tape or face lift tape (not to be confused with face taping I described for foreheads in an earlier video): https://amzn.to/3ICsU4W
