Lead and Toxicant-free Dishes 🍽 and Food Storage

LEAD/ TOXINS IN DISHES:

This post may contain Amazon Associates affiliate links, that I may earn small amounts from. See the bottom of this page for more details.

I thought I’d share what I have and other options I learned about. In the picture is Murano by Bormioli Rocco, a brand that claims to be lead Free, and mine were verified lead free with XRF testing by Lead Safe Mama. Amazon Affiliate link to the cups I have: https://amzn.to/3rMe575. Since we eat off the dishes daily it was a priority to make sure this was a non toxic purchase. We love them (and get no benefit from talking about it)!

Other safe and lower cost options are clear Duralex or Anchor Hocking (my mug is that brand too; Amazon affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3KCr18j, all white Corelle (but not the mugs); Amazon affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3nWESwx, Fiestaware, target threshold white, Macy’s hotel collection, crate and barrel (New and square; older has lead), or ikea. Sur La Table good too. Heath Ceramics good but expensive. Read this post and check her blog for more info and updates; some of these brands may have changed:

Corelle modern plain white dishware is lead green. They do make slightly fancier ones such as these: Corelle Embossed Bella Faenza 10.25″ Dinner Plate (Set of 4) : Amazon affiliates link: https://amzn.to/3tV04qh And these Corelle 16-Piece Vitrelle Glass Cherish Chip and Break Resistant Embossed Dinner Set, Service for 4, White : Amazon affiliates link: https://amzn.to/3fVqv7k

Be sure to avoid vintage painted Corelle and Pyrex (made by the same brand) such as the painted milk glass bowls and dishes with painted designs. The new painted Corelle dishware contains cadmium.

STAINLESS STEEL FOOD STORAGE CONTAINERS:

(All links are amazon Associates links):

I use Lunchbots for my kids. https://amzn.to/3AtOP9I. For ice packs I use these, which aren’t particularly non toxic, but are hard plastic and I don’t have a problem using for this purpose: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LH10GPA/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_XM0YN4RF0Q8Q4DJR305C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=ml2&tag=cleangreentox-20

LunchBots Tiny Dips Condiment Containers – Set of 3 – Perfect Portion Cups – Spill Proof Lunch Box Sauce Container with Lid – Food Grade Stainless Steel – 1.5oz – Dishwasher Safe – Stainless Lids : https://amzn.to/33Lc6Ig

Klean Kanteen 16oz Food Canister Vacuum Insulated (w/Insulated Stainless Lid) : https://amzn.to/3GTK3oi

I also saw this brand but haven’t seen it recommended by others. It’s all stainless so should be safe though. WeeSprout 18/8 Stainless Steel Food Storage Containers with S.S. Lids | Set of 3 Metal Food Storage Containers (150 ml, 200 ml, 400 ml) | Durable | Germ-Resistant | Store Snacks, Lunches, Leftovers :

GLASS FOOD STORAGE CONTAINERS:

For home food storage use, I use clear Pyrex or the blue glass bowls shown above. I often just cover with a glass plate, because I don’t put any kind of plastic in the dishwasher and don’t want to hand wash the Pyrex lids 😂. Lead Safe Mana recently tested Yoda Pyrex as lead free so I got these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DWJLM1H/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_glt_i_JXPWKY23ZDXH3ZNSXDJT?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=ml2&tag=cleangreentox-20. Other than that I don’t use any painted glass because of heavy metals risks.

I’m also looking into cloth lids such as these (not an affiliate link), but they are expensive and I hesitate to get a non-organic cloth. In general because I’m a germaphobe, I worry about germs from the laundry, discussed in my cleaning post. I also do have some beeswax wraps but to be honest have never used them. I could be wrong but they just don’t seem to be something I’d like.
