Least Toxic Nail Polish and Artificial Nails 💅

A beauty queen’s secrets to looking youthful without toxic products, Part 6!

The video contains three quick tips for nail hygiene and polish/ fake nails, and there are additional tips written below.

My nails naturally grow quickly, so when I was in high school, I always had long nails that I meticulously painted in different colors each week. The stench from the toxic chemicals in the polish and remover was horrendous.

Breathing those fumes in is definitely not good for you. And for a long time I also didn’t realize that nails are permeable, so I was absorbing even more toxicants directly through my nails and the skin around them!

If you are looking for a 💯 non-toxic nail polish, unfortunately that doesn’t exist. Even the least toxic options still contain concerning ingredients. This article explains it well, but note that it gives some example brands that I don’t necessarily recommend.

This post is NOT sponsored in any way, and I don’t sell any products such as MLM.

This post may contain Amazon Associates affiliate links, that I may earn small amounts from if you click them. See the bottom of this page for more details. This doesn’t create bias because I’m not creating my recommendations based on a payment from specific products.

Video for Part 6:

Video is available on YouTube, embedded below. A shorter version is also available on Facebook and other social media. YouTube can be convenient because because with the YouTube app you can listen/ watch it while you do other things on your phone. It’s possible to do this on Facebook as long as you stay on the app.

Products Described in the Video:

I clip my nails often to keep them short. The longer your nails are, the more bacteria and parasite eggs they can harbor. These are innovative nail clippers that catch the clippings so they don’t go flying and spread germs everywhere: https://amzn.to/3wixTVC (all links are Amazon associates links).

I mentioned Poofy Organics nail polish as the least toxic option, but it isn’t available on Amazon. Piggy Paint is another one of the least toxic brands: https://amzn.to/3I1sYLq. I haven’t tried either one because I never wear nail polish anymore.

Both of the above listed brands make nail polish removers that are less toxic, and I haven’t tried these either: https://amzn.to/3I2vRf4

For very special occasions, I use press on nails. I recommend only purchasing reputable brands, and ones that use adhesive stickers rather than liquid glue. https://amzn.to/3uFYgEo

More Tips Not in the Video:

Another type of alternative to liquid nail polishes are “nail wraps” which are basically like nail polish applied like a thin adhesive sticker. But be aware that although many of them label themselves as “non-toxic,” that term doesn’t mean much. One brand that sounds like it at least avoids many of the hazardous ingredients is Polish Pops. I haven’t tried it and it isn’t available on Amazon.
